Rain delays qualifying again for the Indy 500

Danica Patrick sounded relieved Sunday. Other drivers were merely trying to contend with the deluge of delays, distractions and disappointments that ruined the first week of Indianapolis 500 practices.

But at least it wasn't a complete washout. The consolation: Having three more days to practice before qualifying for the May 28 race starts.

Danica Patrick to race at Daytona in Rolex 24

IRL Rookie of the Year Danica Patrick will try her hand at sports car racing, agreeing to compete in the Rolex 24 At Daytona later this month.

Patrick, will work with retiring NASCAR Nextel Cup star Rusty Wallace's team for the January 28 race, which features Daytona Prototype cars and lasts 24 hours over a 3.56-mile road course as teams rotate drivers.

Danica Patrick's current marketing prowess has resulted in Rahal-Letterman Racing signing a new sponsorship deal with the global Proctor & Gamble corporation.

Proctor & Gamble will use the 2005 Indianapolis 500 rookie of the year to promote its new Secret Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant and Body Spray Collection.

The cornerstone of the partnership will place the logo of Secret Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant and Body Spray Collection on Rahal Letterman Racing's #16 Argent Mortgage Pioneer Panoz-Honda driven by Patrick and on her race uniform. In addition, Patrick will appear in Secret's marketing campaign.

Danica wins the Bombardier 2005 Rookie of the year at Watkins Glen.

Danica has a peculiar day at Watkins Glen as she drops to the back of the pack after an ignition problem with her car as she passes her teammate Rice under yellow. Her Car shuts off and has to be restarted causing her to lose positions. She battled back late though to place 16th overall. Scott Dixon wins the Watkins Glen Indy Grand Prix.

Even with her finish at Watkins Glen, she wins the Bombardier 2005 Rookie of the year having the most points to date:

Danica takes 6th in the Peak Antifreeze 300 at Chicagoland Speedway

Danica takes 6th avoiding a fiery crash with Ryan Briscoe as Briscoe goes airborn as he makes contact with the front tire of another car. His car becomes airborn and catches fire in mid-flight as his car breaks in half. Preliminary reports say he is o.k. with a bruised lung and broken right and left clavicles. Danica starting from the pole, was sixth -- the seventh top-10 finish of her rookie season. The Roscoe, Ill., native lost the lead to Scheckter on the second lap and never got it back despite a push late in the race. She jump started coming out of a pit after the 188th lap and got knocked down two spots to fourth.

Danica takes another pole at the IRL Antifreeze Indy 300

Danica Patrick was awarded the pole after Ryan Briscoes car failed technical inspection. All thre Target-Chip Ganassi Racing cars that qualified on today failed technical inspection and were sent to the back. This now adds to her count and Danica now claims her third pole of the season to tie an IRL record among rookies.

She now becomes the second female to win a pole here Saturday shortly after Sara McCune became the first woman to win a pole in the Menards Ifiniti Pro Series.

Danica at the Infineon Raceway

Well it was a short day for Danica at the Argent Mortgage Grand Prix at Infineon Raceway this weekend.

Danica suffers an accident on lap 16 and is taken out of the race early. Although it was a short one for Danica, her other teammates from Rahal/Letterman places 2nd (Buddy Rice) and 9th (Vitor Meira).

The Winner of the Argent Mortgage Grand Prix was Tony Kanaan of team 7-11.

Danica races at Pikes Peak

Danica pushes into an 8th place finish at Pikes Peak International Menard 250.

Well it was another interesting day at the short ovals again this weekend. As Danica becomes more familiar with short oval tracks her experience in this aspect of Indy Racing is building. This being evident as she has consistently improved her standings thru the weeks racing short oval tracks. She posted the fastest lap this weekend.

During the first part of the race Danica lays back during the first 2/3 of the race due to changes in her car. Begining of the race experiencing oversteer and the at the end understeer. She then at the latter third of the race pushes her way up the field and places 8th. respectivly

The next few races should be more familiar for Danica since the Indy league will be racing 'road courses' in coming weeks. Danica has much experience in road courses since many of her early experience comes from these types of courses.

Tough one for Danica

Danica has a tough day at Kentucky Speedway for the AMBER Alert Portal Indy 300.
She finishes 16th. while Scott Sharp (Driving car #8, Delphi) takes the checkered flag.

Patrick is the most marketable face in the Indy Racing League, having graced the pages of FHM magazine in scant attire alongside a '57 Chevy. The magazine's Web site lists that April 2003 issue as long sold out. With top 4 finish at INDY she now is one of the most marketable women of sports.

But team co-owner Bobby Rahal, winner of the 1986 Indy 500, stresses Patrick "doesn't want to be the next Anna Kournikova," a reference to the tennis goddess who never won a Grand Slam singles title.

Well she may have no choice in the matter, with her skills on the track against Anna Kournikova on the court, Danica wins hands down.

Danica takes 7th. at Nashville

Well it was another se-saw race as Danica trades positions during the race. With key pitstops at the right time and with a little luck, Danica drives her car to a 7th. place finish amid a car that was understeering throughout the race.

Danica starts in Row 1, Firestone Indy 200

Danica Patrick does it again by posting the fastest lap in the second session of qualifying at 203.088 mph.

Danica will be starting in the front row of the race in pos.#3 at the Firestone Indy 200 at Nashville Superspeedway.

Broadcast of this race will be on ESPN at 7:00pm (EDT)

Well it was inevitable that Danica would make her way onto the red carpet via Hollywood.

As she deals with the media blitz surrounding her exciting accomplishments as of lately, Danica finds time to grace the Hollywood scene at the premier of 'Herbie Fully Loaded'.

Our favorite little 'luv-bug' is back with Lindsey Lohan in 'Herbie Fully Loaded'.

If there is a sequel to this first movie a cameo appearance is probably a must for Danica.

Danica Patrick has another top 10 finish

Danica finishes 9th. overall at the Argent Mortgage Indy 300 after starting 1st. on the pole. It was a difficult day with Danica fighting traffic and mechanical problems most of the day. She overcame poor pit stops to rise to fifth on lap 182 only to fall back having to take a final splash of fuel on lap 187 that ended her fight for the front.

It is not her driving in particular that is in question at this moment. Danica has proven without a doubt that she is an exceptional driver and has momentary set backs due to poor pit and fuel management.

Tony Kanaan wins the Argent Indy 300. Kanaan edged Andretti Green teammate Dan Wheldon by .012 seconds, the sixth closest finish in league history.

Danica leads Rahal/Letterman Racing

It was the first 1-2-3 qualifying by one team since Scheckter, Rice and Eddie Cheever did it a Michigan in 2002 for Eddie Cheever Red Bull Racing.

Danica takes the pole and leads the team with her two team-mates right behind her.

Patrick, making her eight career start, was fastest in the morning practice session, too. She drew a big cheer from the capacity crowd waiting for the start of a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race.

Danica takes pole at the Argent Mortgage Indy 300

Danica Patrick will be the 2nd. woman in series history to lead the field to the green flag after winning the Marlboro Pole Award with a qualifying lap of 214.66 m.p.h. for the Argent Mortgage Indy 300 on the 1.5 mile Kansas Speedway tri-oval.
