Bernie 'the butt-head' Ecclestone of F1 racing makes wrong comment

-Ecclestone made some comments that has made many people in this country upset including Danica Patrick.-

Danica Patrick is upset at Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone and confused by his comments likening women to "domestic appliances."

Among the comments Ecclestone made in the interview and to Patrick was a reference that "women should be all dressed in white like all other domestice appliances."

Ecclestone has made controversial remarks about women before. He told Autosport racing magazine in 2000 that women could not compete in Formula One, but if one did, "she would have to be a woman who was blowing away the boys. ... What I would really like to see happen is to find the right girl, perhaps a black girl with super looks, preferably Jewish or Muslim, who speaks Spanish."

Well at a time when F1 could go without another black-eye, after last weeks debacle at the INDY race track,(Following safety concerns over Michelin tyres, after Ralf Schumacher suffered an accident due to tire failure, the manufacturer advised their six teams not to contest the race in Indianapolis unless a chicane was added. This was vetoed by the governing body, the FIA, and it resulted in 14 of the 20 cars on the grid pulling into the pits to retire before the race even started, leaving the farcical sight of two Ferraris battling Jordans and Minardis for honours.)

I should think that Danica should go over there and show them an American thing or to after remarks like that are made about women drivers.

What do you think? Leave a comment...

Danica runs with the Pack at Texas

Sometimes it's tougher running in the middle or the back than it is when you are at the front. This was a tougher day but we finished and I gained a lot of experience.

Danica runs with lead pack for much of the race at Texas Motor Speedway for the Bombardier 500. Danica finishes 13th. after a grueling long race.

Danica Patrick received the biggest cheers from the large crowd, estimated by the Associated Press at 102,000. Her drive to 13th. place was as noteworthy as her recent pair of fourth-place finishes because she showed her maturity by holding back to gain seat time and race miles rather than taking unnecessary chances at the IndyCar Series most unforgiving venue.

24 year old Tomas Scheckter takes the checkered flag and takes first.

Danica starts 3rd. on the pole at the Bombardier 500 at Texas Motor Speedway

Most of the attention has been on Danica Patrick since her showing at INDY.
At Texas on Saturday night, Patrick will start ahead of INDY winner Dan Wheldon and all but two other drivers. Her qualifying lap of 212.661 mph was good for third, a spot better than her Indianapolis start.

Patrick had never driven a lap on the 1-mile Texas track before practice thursday yet qualified better than her teammates Vitor Meira and Buddy Rice.

The only drivers starting ahead of her are Tomas Scheckter and rookie Tomas Enge. Ironically the 2 Panther teammates whose Chevy's were both knocked out of the INDY race because of Patrick.

Danica with many Skills

Patrick is the most marketable face in the Indy Racing League, having graced the pages of FHM magazine in scant attire alongside a '57 Chevy. The magazine's Web site lists that April 2003 issue as long sold out. With top 4 finish at INDY she now is one of the most marketable women of sports.

But team co-owner Bobby Rahal, winner of the 1986 Indy 500, stresses Patrick "doesn't want to be the next Anna Kournikova," a reference to the tennis goddess who never won a Grand Slam singles title.

Well she may have no choice in the matter, with her skills on the track against Anna Kournikova on the court, Danica wins hands down.

The Next Women of Sports?

With Danica Patrick bursting out into the sports scene with a 4th. place finish at the INDY 500, and leading the race at the end to only to run low on fuel to drop back to 4th. in order to conserve and finish, could she be the next hottest thing to happen to sports since Anna Kournakova?

Who's hotter? Danica Patrick, Anna Kournakova, or Maria Sharapova

Danica and then some...

INDIANAPOLIS -- Danica Patrick was considered the first woman driver to be a serious contender at the Indianapolis 500. That's for sure. She would have won if it were the Indianapolis 485.

Danica Patrick is an inspiration to young girls around the world

On May 29, 2005, Patrick became only the fourth woman to race in the Indianapolis 500. After posting the fastest practice speed (229.880 MPH on May 15), she made a few errors and missed a chance at the pole position. But who cares, she still outdid many others to become a legend among young audiences around the world.

Danica became the first female driver to lead the race at Indianapolis when she stayed out one lap longer than her rivals during a set of green-flag pit stops. Patrick overcame two crucial errors to finish fourth in the race, the same position in which she started. Her car stalled in the pits about halfway through the 500-mile race, dropping her to the middle of the field. Shortly after reclaiming a spot in the top 10, Patrick spun under caution causing a four car accident. The accident caused damage to the nose and front wing of her car. Her pit crew promptly made repairs, and Patrick managed to lead the race twice more, only to be passed by eventual champion Dan Wheldon with seven laps to go when she was forced to conserve fuel. According to her team, she finished the race with a "teaspoon of fuel" left while the winner, Wheldon, had to be pushed to victory lane after running out of fuel on his victory lap. Patrick's fourth place was the highest ever finish for a female driver besting Janet Guthrie's 27-year-old ninth place finish record. Danica led 19 laps overall.
